Here’s Why Trump’s COVID Diagnosis Was A Disaster

1 557 802 Näkymät

President Trump was diagnosed with COVID-19. Even though it’s been several days now, and we’ve known this was possible for months, it’s still so bizarre to read. Unfortunately, the tragedy of COVID-19 does not just stop at the infection of people like Donald Trump, but rather extends to the megaphones of our most mainstream media outlets. I’ve been in more Twitter feuds over the last week than I have been in my entire life on the platform, arguing with contributors to outlets like CNN, The Washington Post, and Fox News, among others. It seems to me that this virus and our political vitriol towards each other has caused us to lose all sense of logic and decency. From criticizing DO’s (Doctor’s of Osteopathic Medicine) for being inferior to asking doctors on TV to participate in “tabloid medicine”, I’m almost beginning to lose my cool. Today I walk you through what’s brought me to my breaking point.

  • you know whats horrible is that news puts up numbers like only 1% infected people have died and more people die from heart attack, car accidents or cancer like what?? those 1% people died before their time was up and a smaller number dosent make it any less significant. it seems smaller cause infected cases are ever increasing so 1.1 million is not a small no of people that died. if you consider a nuclear family, thats at least 3 million (possibly 10-20 million) family member that lost someone close to them

  • do is just a slighty easier. in its own competition to get into an osteopathic school is harder because of low no of schools for it, but among its own applicants they tend to have lower mcat scores and gpa. but the vigorous residency thats same make up for it. both have same practicing rights and as a patient you can be confident if your patient is an md or do

  • This is largely a tangential comment, so read if you're interested in going off on a tangent Otherwise, I recommend you move on to another comment.😅 * * * * * * * * My only issue with the Presidential PCP is that he makes no sense, & doesn't seem to give out information that is clear, concise, & conclusive when requested to do so, to the public. I'm very much a person that focuses on a person as they are, and not their titles, & background, aside from how it may help explain their actions & behaviors. When those things don't seem to apply, is when they're ignored. By in large, the Presidential PCP hasn't behaved or acted in a manner that matches up with his Titles & Background...except in one particular context, which is pure speculation based on the easiest to see instances of actions. So, I refrain from participating in any dialogue about the veracity of the associated statements, since I have no way of knowing what's what, & we won't find out in general until 50+ years from now, disregarding any unusual situations I assume. As for wishing the president Ill...I avoid that in general since it doesn't benefit myself to wish anyone ill, & by avoiding it in general, I have a good amount of stored Positive PR on my side whenever someone tries to do something bad to me. It's a strategy I discovered as being incredibly useful, when you actually have the credit on your side, to use against bullies. When I was younger, I used this strategy, but it wasn't 100% successful since I didn't always have that credit. As an Adult, I now know how to build that credit so it can apply to as many situations as possible. Sadly, my abilities to see such things, make me extremely aware of relationship dynamics on all scales, & I can't turn off that I am pretty much not a good low level employee, since I also learn things quickly, & once I learn it, it loses all capacity to hold my attention after a certain number of repetitions. Give me two weeks to a month in any low level position & I have the basics all set. Add another month, & I have multiple things I can point out as being inefficient in the current situation, even with the different needs involved.

We're all working together in our areas to fight diseases and diagnose patients as fast and precise as we can. Imagine if my fellow doctors didn't trust me to give as much information I can get from analyzing bacterial cultures and serological tests in order to help them getting a diagnostic? This ego fighting between health practitioners need to stop. We're all on the same boat here!

  • 7:54 this is one scenario where I have to agree with the points both sides where actually making. I'll start off by just saying this "search algorithms are a mirror of desire" meaning they will show the user what it thinks they most want to see. So if you are.... say... hypothetically... a Medical trained doctor, you are going to see different search results than someone who's livelihood depends on the airline industry. Meaning that yes, there are a lot of doctors on youtube giving great medical advice, and if the person searching is predisposed to wanting to hear what those doctors have to say, it will recommend those videos. If however the person in question is interested in homeopathic medicine, or all natural remedies, they will never see those video. If youtube had a way of picking out the good information, from the information that suggests "you'll only catch covid if you are weak" (yes, that is a thing, and wow is it messed up) then it would be fine. However, because that's not the case, search engines, and the internet more broadly, is still the best radicalizer of people on earth. Search engines radicalize with religion, it does it with gun rights, it does it with climate change, and pretty much anything that humans can be bothered to care about. So while I see your point with Fox "news" (I use quotes because they are no longer allowed to be cited as a legitimate source of information according to some universities) and other news organizations, she is right, they do have an editor. Even if they are actively incentivized to "exaggerate the information slightly", they still should be able to hit the high notes of what to do most of the time. I.E. at the minimum the viewer won't hear an argument that "we shouldn't wear masks because they are not being worn correctly", where as on facebook and youtube..... well I did hear that line from somewhere. should News agencies stop being stupid about this? yes if "medical youtube" was the only thing people saw when they searched for Covid-19 information, your point would be valid. But without something to certify the validity of the claim or the author, and in some cases actively hiding the correct information, FIstream as a whole can be quite problematic, especially if the wrong person is trying to search on it.

Now, I am not a medical doctor but I am a biologist who worked for the pharmaceutical industry for 14 years, from which, 12 were on the clinical research side. The last 8 as Clinical Monitor, almost 3 years working with FLU diseases and vaccines. So, I am just wondering if this could possibly be related. Do you have any articles about this? And told me that was the downside of healthcare.” When I said if she ever came into my room, I’d ask for someone else because she won’t think I was worth saving. She asked what my credentials were and if I was just another bored housewife. 🙃

  • Does a mask really prevent anything? People can still get the virus in their eyes and ears right? I don't think a mask stops people from getting the virus. I personally believe eating right. Being out in the sun. Getting daily exercise is more important than a mask. But this is my opinion. I personally don't wear a mask anywhere. But I don't judge a person that chooses to wear a mask either. I've seen too many stories of people say I was wearing a mask but still caught corona. NFL coaches with a strict protocol always having to wear a mask still caught the virus. So I don't feel like a mask does anything.

  • This is an example of a healthy expression of opinion. Dr. Mike made a respectable effort to be objective. I disagree with his assessment of the level of danger and response to COVID. I think he should have compared Dr. Mom with CCN, not AON, but his bias was showing. His description of Trumps excursion as putting people in danger was overblown; unless his secret service agents and healthcare physicians are much over 70, in which case they shouldn't be around COVID. Nevertheless, I was impressed with his objectivity. Kudos to Dr. Mike. I disagree with so much of what you say, but this was mostly dispassionate, well-reasoned argument that this country desperately needs.
