I sit down with the head of Google Health, Dr. David Feinberg. In this video, I ask Dr. Feinberg about the all the ambitious projects Google has in the works, how their innovations could affect the day-to-day of doctors and my patients, and how to take care of our mental health during COVID-19.

  • I thought being a doctor is just about managing the patient's illness/condition. I didn't know we're required to make medical abstracts/notes of patients including those with history of prolonged hospitalization. And what bothers me the most are the ugly penmaship of some doctors in the charts. Only nurses who've been in the hospital for too long can read it.

  • Sadly, there is no way to actually report a video as containing misleading information. You can report misleading titles or captions, or spam, but nothing in the reporting system on FIstream lets you tag a video as "Misinformation" or "Inaccurate and dangerous for public safety". So... we still have a ways to go.

  • Hi Doctor Mike, I had a question. One of my lower left ribs sticks out compared to the rest. It has been like this since I can remember and brings a lot of pain. Somedays the pain is so bad that I have to lay down and curl up in a ball for up to an hour. I am 14 and my mom says I broke it when I was a baby and it never grew back right. The thing is everytime she tells me the story it changes one way or another. She lies a lot so I don't know if I can trust the story/s. I have told my doctor/s multiple times but the just kinda push it aside and they tell me to take Ivyprofin (I don't think I spelled that right). The last time it was checked my doctor said it was inflammation in between my ribs. She also told me it would go away in a week. It has been a month. I was wondering what your opinion be on this. Have a nice day.

  • Here in Québec, each person has a medical record that is available through the province. So, even if I go to hospital X to have a scan, and in hospital Y to have an X ray, not only my doc will have that information but any hospital has access to the data. I also have an access by internet of all the scans, x-ray and blood test results. That was partly made so that if a person has a mental health issus and go see multiples doctors, they can't have multiples prescriptions that can be harmfull to them. Hope that is clear, because I think it got a little lost in translation (french canadien) 😊

  • I am deeply concerned about the health care workers (including those who provide related services in health care centers such as janitors, laundry, etc.) and people in hard hit areas. They have lived through a disaster that is unprecedented in the modern era in the western world. Unless they've spent time in Africa, the Middle East, or parts of Asia - they've had 0 experience. I think those who've worked for agencies like Drs Without Borders have some emotional immunity. The rest simply aren't emotionally prepared - which is most of them. Doctors need a better support system. The traditional view of doctor's aren't supposed to feel needs to go away. Seeing a doctor cry because they've given someone bad news or lost a patient or seen a patient who's been deeply traumatized - that shouldn't be abnormal. Yes, you're supposed to be professional, but you're still human beings. Vets are supposed to be the same way, yet our vet and the vet tech were crying when we had to put my Petie down - they couldn't help it. I just thought it showed that he was a special dog that was hard to lose for everyone. It was a nice thing to see they loved him, too. It just showed what a special little guy he was. If it was for a person, it would have shown me that these people cared for my friend or loved one. It kinda makes it easier, in a way, because they share your grief. If it was trauma - it would help me prepare as well as know these folks would treat that person with love and that they would do anything they could do to help the person heal or save their life. I would know they were in good hands.

Personally I don't trust bug tech or even tech in general with my medical data. Look at how much data is being exposed and information being stolen. Kids at home, demanding family their wants their needs their desire for mom to do everything, not sleeping well, in pain 24-7, bills that need to be paid, yard work, cooking, laundry, dishes, sweeping mopping, vacuuming, must clean this so that can be done. God I'm so sad, so depressed it's other things as well.

  • I feel like Dr. Feinberg didn't do a good job addressing privacy concerns about all of that data. The model he described seems awesome for medical practioners, but it gets my alarm bells ringing for privacy and data protection concerns. Especially considering how FIstream's response to covid has been abysmal. The same goes for Twitter and Facebook. The idea of only removing the "drink bleach" type of content directly seems good on paper, but the implementation was/is horrible. Google/FIstream and Facebook/Twitter are private companies who aren't bound by the same rules and laws as a government agency would be. Censorship and Privacy have been a problem on these platforms for a while and giving them access to even more sensitive data as well as making them the arbiters of who and what credible/authoritative sources are seems questionable under the best of circumstances. Perhaps Dr. Feinberg isn't the right person to talk about those technical aspects, but when asked if that data is going to be used for commercial uses he needs to respond with a clear and categorical "No". His language was very evasive on that topic and as such I cannot put my trust into any of this. I don't know how this implementation will be achieved on a legal level, but if there is a choice between a hospital that uses it and one that doesn't I would always pick the latter even if that would mean that I will likely not receive the same level of care as I would by picking the former. Most likely though, patients ignorance will be taken advantage of by having them sign waivers or similar documents which most lawyers couldn't even decipher. Perhaps one of those "authoritative" sources could come in handy there to tell patients "this is the best course of action". That is assuming the patient has any choice in this at all. I understand that this sounds very harsh, but I don't have any trust in these companies for good reasons and unfortunately this interview did nothing to assuage any of my concerns. Obviously we expect technical competency (though if we were to judge by the standards provided by FIstream, we wouldn't even expect that), that is not in question, trustworthiness very much is.

  • Interesting discussion. My worry would be infringement on free speech and information. It would be someone’s opinion what everyone should be seeing when they are searching for information on a particular topic. One of the great things about America is the ability to have freedom of speech. I also worry about having health information on Google. I like the idea of doctors being able to get information quickly, but not the idea of Google, who sells information, to have someone’s personal health information. It seems like giving that access to Google would be a violation of HIPAA laws.

It feels like a cramp that starts from my boob and goes in my back ,it lastes for a few seconds and it happens mostly in my left side. My female friend had the same thing and when she went to the doctor. He said it was caused by her anxiety (the last 2 years we've been studing for our finals and we have A LOT of anxiety). So my question is if the diagnosis she got is valid (in your opinion) or i should go to a different doctor to get an other opinion. (sorry if my English are bad im from Greece)❤

I was invited to stay in the psychiatric ward for evaluation, the first day i was invited into a room with a few people in white coats. Before leaving the room i was offered medication even after i mentioned i don't take aspirin or paracetamol. I refused and went to the library to learn about the medication. Two days later i was invited into the same room with four people attired in white. I asked them why they would offer me an anti psychotic (from later research i learned it was a derivative of prozac) without a diagnosis? Walked out in disgust with the quackery. As yet i am still waiting for a diagnosis for dyslexia.

  • Dr Mike, you're a FRAUD! You call out Dr Judy Mikovitz and act like you're oh so smart and she's crazy. Yet when Patrick Bet-David of Valuetainment Media invites the two of you to debate you say "yes" but back down at the last minute. WHY??? Oh, by the way folks reading this, Patrick Bet-David of Valuetainment (look it up) did have Dr. Judy Mikovitz on his channel for an interview - a very good interview to say the least - and well well well, wouldn't you know it, FIstream took it down, hmmmm, imagine that. See folks, it's BIG MONEY that wants to control the script, and when the FREE PRESS has a chance to get the TRUTH out there - like on a platform such as FIstream (you'd wish FIstream would protect our 1st Amendment Rights, but they don't they actually violate it!) - they do everything in their power to silence it. Dr Mike, I'm calling you out right here out in the open cuz not only are you a FRAUD, but you're a coward. You KNOW that you can't win an open debate with Dr Judy Mikovitz because you KNOW that what she says is the TRUTH! She was fired and thrown in jail because the people she worked for were corrupt and those corrupt individuals needed to smear her name and shut her up because otherwise they would be held liable for over 25,000 individuals who were harmed by their vaccines. Dr Judy Mikovitz could've easily kept her mouth shut and continued to work for such corrupt individuals and she could've been rich. But instead she listened to her God given conscience - Dr Judy is not a lunatic, she's a CHRISTIAN woman who did the right thing! You on the other hand, Dr Mike, are just a FRAUD! Wake up folks! This guy is a joke! Stop listening to his lies!

You also don't mention that in Europe they only do a colonoscope if people show positive with a F.I.T. (FIT) test first. The FIT test can be purchased at you grocery store or on Amazon and you do the test and get the result right at home. The FIT test is actually more accurate than an invasive and dangerous colonoscope. What do you have to say about that? Do tell, MR. Mike.

  • I have always thought that patients like myself with chronic conditions should be able to digitally store and bring with them their own records and have them be compatible with office/hospital systems. With patients storing and keeping their own records only a professional should be able to edit or add to them. I would be fine if they were locked or read only. I guess I always assumed systems offices use had a search bar or a Ctrl + F for my records. Glad someone is working on that. It just seems like common sense to me.

For example: does "sweating it out" by staying all wrapped up in blankets really reduces a fever? Which hot tea actually helps you recover? Does it really help to drink a lot to "flush out" the disease? My parents had so many remedies for me when I was younger but I am not sure if they actually work!

  • Here's the problem with having some kind of seal or other indicator to signify which videos have been verified for accuracy: If the video then doesn't say the things the conspiracy nuts want it to say, or it comes to different conclusions, they simply dismiss the approval organization, calling it corrupt and accusing it of orchestrating a cover-up by only approving videos that "don't tell the truth." There is no great way to combat this type of thinking.

Before COVID, I would cough and sneeze into my elbow (long sleeve) or shirt (short sleeve) which are cloths not strapped to my face. If it's the right thing, I'll cough and sneeze into my mask. The alternative would be to take off the mask and cough/sneeze into my elbow or shirt as described. Peewoop!

Because for some reason, doctors and health experts in my country are ENFORCING people to wear masks (surgical) when they go out to buy essentials cuz they think these will protect you from the virus. In my opinion, surgical masks can't protect people from the virus because they barely filter the incoming air. The mask that should be worn in the current situation should be N95's or better.

  • Hey Doctor Mike, I have a question: "Should I go see a doctor for this?" I've lost my sense of smell for 3 days now and my sinuses gradually hurt when I tilt my head up. Headaches developed on the first day but have been lesser as time progressed. No nasal congestions, I am actually able to breathe easier compared to before this occured.
