  • I have a question, since I started to exercise, not even that consistent yet, but I do some HIIT and resistance training, my hamstrings gets very stiff, even when I don't work out for a few days, it's way more painful to stretch, but the worst is that inner hamstring muscle, I feel it all the way up to the glutes and down. It's different kind of stiffness, more painful than any other muscle, I don't remember being like that before I started exercising, so what's my hamstring's problem? 😬

  • Smoke inhalation is always medically, not good, so please stop expecting doctors to give you a thumbs up. No doctor should be telling you that smoke inhalation of any kind is "okay" for you to do. That's just asking someone to be bad at their job.

    • @mcozy333 Okay, but smoke in your lungs is generally not a good thing, because of tar and what not. All of this is probably true, doesn't change the fact that lungs are for air, and anything else in there can't be called "good for you" by a medical professional. I smoke pot. I'm not against it. I just think asking a doctor to say that smoking anything is "okay" is asking them to be unprofessional.

    • look into Dr Donald Tashkin research on pulmonary harms on cannabis smoking compared to tobacco smoking . his conclusions are that phytocannabinoids are bronchodilators ... metabolizing the plant for bronchidilation can be achieved with any form of ingestion ( at least 500 different methods of ingestion) . regardless how the person chooses too ingest it the achieved results is more lipid signaling in the persons cells ( cb1/ CB2 / ETC........)

  • Doctor Mike - I know you're not a gynae but could you please talk more about PCOS and other reproductive illnesses. As someone with PCOS I feel it's really not highlighted enough - it's a shame that 10% (could possibly be even more) of the female population suffer from this and other related illnesses and yet there isn't more awareness around it. Women with PCOS suffer in silence and often get mocked for their symptoms. We need more awareness and education on female reproductive problems.

  • Look up Nixon's Schaefer Commission, who suggested decriminalization, which the administration promptly ignored & started the war on drugs anyway. The reason there is no research is because as a schedule 1 drug, legally no federal funds can go to any scientific research. In contrast, cocaine and methamphetamine are schedule 2 so they *can* and *have* received funds. Please proceed to be properly enraged.

  • Good, reasoned response to the issue of marijuana use. I agree that we need a really good baseline of clinical research data before we can truly get a good reference point on research. As someone who self-medicates for ADHD and PTSD, it has helped immensely with the moderate grade symptoms that I experience with these disorders and allows me to function better in society. However, it has been shown to have effects on the development of the brain and some effects of the heart. I prefer oil, but smoke if needed. If you are down for a bit of reading, the paper from the National Toxicity Program was interesting

It's not for everyone. (For me, it was the only thing I could get that would allow me to calm myself. My doctor doesn't believe in depression.) • Obviously this is anecdotal, but I was injured when a parachute failed while an airborne infantryman. Knee and hip was messed up for quite a while. The army responded by giving me a steady stream of muscle relaxers and for three years my physical therapy was next to nothing from them. Their solution was a drug I felt myself becoming addicted to and didn't function well on. When I got out, I was stationed in Alaska. I got a more vigorous physical therapy routine on my own, and started taking marijuana edibles. I was able to attend school full time for mechanical engineering while effectively a little high, and I went from an overweight guy who couldn't run at all and was constantly in pain, to being back in shape, not in pain, and not addicted to muscle relaxers within less than a year. So, idk, anecdotal but I'm definitely an advocate for marijuana legalization and I don't even use it now that my pain is gone.

      mcozy333mcozy33310 päivää sitten
    • the phytocannabinoids from cannabis when man ingests them increase our cellaulr plasticity ( learning / adaption) ... how well we can express upon the void is Key here ... the actives in cannabis support the homeostasis system in us that maintains every cell basically via communication ... the molecules of cannabis are communication structures that impart structural information to our cells to tell them to turn on or turn off [particular signaling pathways that inform the cell of goings on in every other cell ETC... predicted that each cell that is part of metabolically active tissue signals about 15,000 cannabinoids a second per cell !!!!!!!!!!!!! so, 50 to 70 trillion cells each with their own capacity to signal 15 k cannabinoids a second is ECS in action ... every cannabinoid signal touches interior of cell 7 times before finalizing . the ECS is not even taught in American medical schools yet and is our largest neurotransmitter system in our bodies by a long shot ... we found the ECS while tracing THC as it metabolizes into chordate life .... assumed it would be a random distribution of that compound in our anatomy but the THC metabolite directly expressed into specific and precise locations every time . we then found cannabinoid receptors located on our cells that transport cananbinoids into lipid signaling .Countries other than America are treating Toddlers , infants with phytocanabinoid therapies while we still take families apart if people do that here ... the kid would be put in the system and suffer more basically = that helps them right ??!! • Now I mean, you can "green out" w weed, where you do get nauseous, paranoid, etc. Its not the same as alcohol for sure (especially because alcohol is a depressant and weed is a stimulant). I've also heard that "cross fading" (mixing weed and booze) can be harmful as the alcohol can change how you handle weed and vice versa. That being said, I think it's really important to legalise substances and, for the more dangerous ones (such as heroin, cocaine, etc), to create safe sites where ppl w addictions can recieve safer and more regulated forms of the substance. Where they are also having the opportunity to build a community and get professional help. Harm reduction has been proven to be one of the best approaches to combat addiction (we can also work to eliminate other factors that contribute to addiction such as poverty, lack of education, other mental health issues, etc)

    Harmony B.Harmony B.12 päivää sitten
    • ingesting cannabis along with alcohol provides protection form the alcohol ... the phytocannabinoids as we metabolize their structure provide the cellular protection to man .. in the endocannabinoid system ... alcohol poisons us and the bio-actives in cannabis enliven the cells and makes the cannabinoid receptors work more via expression . you are free to look this up , why not look into the US Governments' health patent ? cananbinoids as anti oxidants and neuroprotectants = #6630507

  • Marijuana may not have as many deterrents besides a paranoid episode here and there, but alcohol is addictive and literally kills people despite the many deterrents. Alcoholics are in more danger than pot heads for serious consequences. I have had anxiety my whole life and now I smoke nearly every night. It's how I stop my mind from worrying about everything that happened during the day and helps curb my depression. It's really the only way for me to just let go and say "I'll deal with it in the morning" ... it's my personal do not disturb setting for my evenings. That being said, I never do it before I go anywhere or am going to be around anyone besides my Fiance. I only use it when I am at home and ready to unwind for the rest of the night. It has also done a fantastic job on regulating my sleep schedule...I consistently go to bed between 10-11pm and can't stay up longer even if I wanted to most times. To me, marijuana is wonderful and so much better than alcohol. But, all the same, I applaud your call for more research. It's a shame we have just let this plant that people have used for thousands of years, fall to the wayside of scientific research all because of some racist associations in the past. Its "high" time we give this plant proper attention and research.

  • Like any controlled substance, the right dosage can be a life saver for certain medical conditions. Too much marijuana makes most people very dizzy, to the point where they can't walk or sit upright. Very much like the spins from alcohol. Not fun. Starting low mg and monitoring your personal reaction in 2hr increments is recommended. Also recommended to not operate heavy machinery or signing contracts while trying. Most market packages will have instructions for usage. Good dispensaries have very knowledgable employees that you can ask questions or get resources from. As for anything, always best to consult with your doctor before trying.

  • I think we should be concerned with the chemical imbalances that ADD and ADHD medications cause more so than marijuana. Children and teens are being prescribed antidepressants and mood stabilizers that will affect them for decades, and that's pretty terrifying. Not saying it's good for young people to use marijuana, but I'd rather have them experiment with that over tobacco, alcohol, or pharmaceuticals.

  • few little facts on weed that get frequently lied about: no one ever died from smoking weed. false, people have allergic reactions to it all the time, these can be fatal. people who smoke and drive, have a slower response time and are much more prone to getting in fatal accidents much like drinking and driving. cancer. weed doesn't hurt your body. false, it damages braincells. it constricts blood flow in your lungs. it can cause lung cancer, just like smoking cigarettes. lesson of the day, don't believe statements just because you like the way they sound, or because you've heard them said a million times. the science is out there and science doesn't lie. articles posted online on social media websites do lie. find a peer reviewed study from a reliable source, and get the truth. I used to smoke bud, and did so for upwards of 15 years. there is a difference between having a bad habit, and being in denial about your bad habit and searching for misinformation on that habit to give yourself false verification that your habit isn't bad at all. in short, face the music. the lungs only want to breathe air, anything other than air being inhaled is bad for them. cigarettes, weed, campfire smoke, paint fumes, car exhaust, vape, hookah... they are ALL terrible for your lungs. if it's not air, it's bad for your lungs and can potentially cause lung cancer, or other forms of lung damages. facts are facts kids.

I did not just search google and find duckduckgo LOL.... how endocannbinoid system works is based off of our diet ... the lipids we consume in diet ( essential fatty acids) are used to make endocannabinoids ... and here is something that all the plant haters in the world can hate more of = Cannabis is an essential ( look into the seeds) ... Also, phytocannabinoids are essential fatty acyls ( What?! How? ) they are meroterpinoids ( terpenophenolic metabolites) . the phytocannabinoids bio-mimics the endocannabino0id... that is how this works and why cannabis can bring people back from the Dead and help them recover from Severe clinical endocannabinoid deficiencies in their cells . I'm done ... have a great time her and blessings and peace to you. Ps, it is ingested glandular resin oils ( FECO) with the best medical application, not smoking blunts or smoking anything .... infants with drug resistant inoperable cancers in the brain have recovered with phytocannabinoid therapy ... ingesting activated cannabis resin oils ( decarboxylated ) ... look up Israel and how they have been using cannabis oils for infants a few years now

    • mcozy333 these are not peer reviewed studies. Sorry friend. You googled the answer you wanted to find and found two articles on the site DuckDuckGo... seems like a reliable source of information to me. As for the Endocannabinoid system, research is still in the preliminary phase, meaning that any effects of it are only conjecture. But even as far as conjecture goes, no link to cancer prevention is listed anywhere. Even the ever so reliable Wikipedia, got that much right. So... good attempt, but all you found were internet articles that support what you already believe, and called it proof. You need peer reviewed medical journals posted on a reliable source that checks the information for accuracy. As for the Endocannabinoid being linked to cancer in anyway. It’s part of the nervous system in your spine. And as far as we can tell it “COULD” maybe be linked to inhibit fertility (not a good thing) but even that we are unsure about.
